Our Timeline

Fall 2024

  • Conduct Extensive Literature Review

  • Split into Mechanical, CV, Navigational, and L&M Sub-teams

  • Utilize WAR Robot for Mech Team Practice

  • Create Project Proposal

  • Present Proposal Defense

Spring 2025

  • Obtain MIT Racecar Robot for Uni-Robot Testing

  • Create ROS2 Nodes for Computer Vision Tasks

  • Learn Gazebo - Used for Robot Simulation

  • Conduct Lab Trainings

  • Fundraise Through Launch UMD and Grants

  • Test ROS2 Nodes and Other Code on Uni-Robot System

Fall 2025

  • Expand focus to Multi-Robot Systems (MRS) within both the mechanical and cognitive subteams.

  • Upgrade current robot codebases and mechanical components to support multiple robots.

  • Develop and refine systems for multi-robot communication.

  • Goal: Have a fully functional MRS capable of operating in both simulation and real-life environments by the end of the semester.

Spring 2026

  • Implement MARL (Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning) algorithms

  • Run both real-life and simulation-based tests for each algorithm.

  • Gather and analyze final simulation data.

  • Begin writing the team’s final thesis documenting findings and progress.

Fall 2026

  • Deploy the previously tested MARL algorithms from simulation onto the physical MRS.

  • Evaluate how each MARL algorithm performs in dynamic, real-world environments.

  • Analyze how the algorithms handle the transition from simulation to reality.

  • Refine and build upon the thesis.

  • Begin writing a conference-ready research paper for submission in the final semester.

Spring 2027

  • Complete writing of the final thesis.

  • Prepare and present our thesis defense.

  • Finalize, submit, and present our research paper to robotics conferences
